My pieces begin as white fabric and I prefer to work with silk. The fabric is dyed – often more than once, and subjected to a layer of color removal (discharging) in some instances. Imagery is printed using silk screens and a variety of dyes, pigments and other chemical processes. Sometimes I add stitching or needle felting – by hand and also with the help of a sewing machine. Pieces are stable, which means the colors are permanent and the artwork is ready for display. These pieces make elegant additions to any setting and are frequently included in exhibitions around the world.
